Murals and workshops at Rose Cottage Trimdon

Painting with Purpose: My Experience at Rose Cottage

In my latest project, I’m thrilled to be collaborating with participants at Rose Cottage in Trimdon. Over six weeks, we’re painting a series of panels, each showcasing unique designs. So far, we’ve created a vibrant landscape featuring a rose bush and a bee. One panel incorporates elements of stained glass inspired by Durham Cathedral. We also painted a crocheted pair of angel wings with colourful wool.

The community involvement has been incredible. Participants are enthusiastic and eager to contribute, which makes each session rewarding. The next panel will highlight crocheted angel wings against a colorful landscape. As I prepare the design, I’m reminded of the joy and creativity that art can bring to communities. This project not only beautifies the space but also fosters a sense of belonging and accomplishment among the participants.

At time of writing we are halfway through the project. Watch this space for an update in a few weeks time!
